Zimmerman, Redding lead Nationals past Mets 5-3 (AP)

Washington Nationals' Ryan Zimmerman follows through on a home run during the sixth inning of a baseball game against the New York Mets, Wednesday, May 14, 2008, in New York. The Nationals won the game 5-3.

Ryan Zimmerman and the Washington Nationals are last in the NL East. That doesn’t mean they’re about to roll over for the New York Mets. Zimmerman hit a long homer and Tim Redding pitched two-hit ball for six innings, sending Washington to a 5-3 victory over the Mets on Wednesday night. “He had great command of his fastball and his curveball was very good,” Nationals manager Manny Acta said.
